How to Get to Ferrara

Airport

The easiest and fastest way to reach Ferrara is flying to Bologna airport. Indeed, this is the closest airport to the city (about 45 km), even though other solutions are possible, such as flying to Venice, Verona or Milan Bergamo airports as well.


From Bologna airport there are two ways to get to Ferrara:

1) Just outside the airport (on the left, at the bus parking) there is a shuttle bus service, called Bus&Fly, providing daily connections to Ferrara city centre, 8 times a day. The cost is 20 € each way on board (or 17€ online) but it's recommended as it takes you directly from the airport to Ferrara city centre.

2) The cheapest way takes longer, and it could be less convenient if you travel with many luggages and need to carry them all with you: just outside the aiport, on the right, you can find a bus called BLQ, providing connections from the airport to the Bologna train station, many times a day. At the train station in Bologna you can then take a train to Ferrara (the final destination most of the time is going to be Venezia Santa Lucia, for the cheapest trains 'Regionali', but do not worry, they stop in Ferrara) and you can check the timetable here: http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en


From Venice Airport to Ferrara:

The airport is connected to the nearby railway stations of Venice-Santa Lucia and Mestre-Venice by scheduled bus services.

  • Bus connections from the Venice-Santa Lucia Ralway Sation to the airport (and viceversa):
    1. Linea ATVO AIR TERMINAL
      2. Every day fast connection (twenty-minute drive) from Marco Polo Airport to Venice (Piazzale Roma).
      From Piazzale Roma Square you have to reach the Venice-Santa Lucia Railway Station: 10 minutes on foot crossing the "Ponte Degli Scalzi" bridge
    2. Autobus urbano ACTV
  • Bus connections from the Mestre-Venice Ralway Sation to the airport (and viceversa)
    1. Linea ATVO FLY BUS
      2. Every day fast connection (twenty-minute drive) from/to M.Polo Airport with Mestre Railway Station.

From Santa Lucia Railway Station or Mestre Railway Station direct train connections to Ferrara (Venezia / Bologna line). Trenitalia.com


From Verona Airport to Ferrara

From Verona airport you can easily reach Verona railway station using the AEROBUS service, available daily every 20 minutes from 06.35 to 23.35. (Verona / Padova, change to Ferrara – or Verona Bologna, change to Ferrara).
It takes roughly 2 hours by train.
